URANTIA Community Remembers Bert Cobb
"Born Nov. 19, 1943, in San Jose, Calif., Roland "Bert" Cobb, 65, departed for the happy hunting grounds Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. His last days were spent peacefully in the house he built, under the care of his three children." So read
Bert's obiturary in
the Magic Valley News in Bert's home town of Jerome, Idaho,
Bert's fond remembrances poured out between his friends in the Urantia community. Some of these are included below.
I just want to express my personal sense of loss at Bert's graduation, coupled with the joyous expectation that we'll all be regathered together again in magnificent and beauteous mansonia.
I loved his poetry, his humility, his wonderment at the cosmos and at nature's sublimity, his humor, his sincerity, his integrity, and his beingness. He was the note-worthy poet of many an inspiring verse, and possessed a personality attractive and heart-warming to all. What great authenticity he achieved in his life! Let us celebrate! Peace to all, - David Glass
Yes, it is true. Bert graduated with grace and dignity from Urantia in the wee hours of this past Saturday morn at home with his three grown children nearby. We will miss him immensely, which is, quite honestly, an understatement.
It was our intention that all of you would receive the news through the soon-to-be released edition of Urantia Foundation Online News. I realize this comes as a shock to some of you. I also know that you, too, find comfort in the knowledge of the faith we shared so sweetly with Bert. He is on his way in the Father's magnificent ascension scheme!
Well done our dear and faithful Brother Bert! We love you now and forever. - Judy Van Cleve
MY FAVORITE BOOK by Bert Cobb
I was mounted up on the opposite end
reading my favorite book.
Now some folks think I'm backward
for the religious path I took.
But when I'm running free in the backcountry,
traversing mountain terrain,
Urantia mota makes my soul feel good,
and its science feels good to my brain.
But the greatest pleasure it brings me,
rated highest and far above....
is the reassuring goodness
of our Spirit Father's love.
